Chairman Nassef Sawiris said move follows “unacceptable insults about the club and its fans”

Aston Villa announced they have initiated legal action against television pundit Jamie Carragher following comments he made about the club and its supporters. In a statement released on Friday night, chairman Nassef Sawiris cited "unacceptable insults about the club and its fans" and emphasized that the club will not allow anyone to obstruct its rise in English and European football.
The controversy began on the Stick to Football podcast, where Carragher addressed rumors linking manager Unai Emery to Manchester United, claiming Villa would never match United's stature and telling fans to "shut the f**k up." Following the club's announcement, Carragher issued an apology on social media, admitting his language was clumsy and wrong while explaining the remarks were intended as tongue-in-cheek.
