Aston Villa scouts reportedly attended Sunday's Portuguese clássico to watch Porto defeat Benfica 3-1 at the Dragão. The Premier League club's representatives monitored several players, including Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis, who was linked with a move to Villa during the summer transfer window. Former Aston Villa defender Clément Lenglet, now playing for Benfica, was sent off after receiving two yellow cards within the first 35 minutes of the match.

Villa scouts also observed Benfica midfielder João Palhinha, another summer target, and 20-year-old winger Gianluca Prestianni, who assisted Benfica's only goal. On the Porto side, 20-year-old midfielder Victor Froholdt delivered a standout performance, while Spaniard Gabri Veiga also impressed after coming on for the second half.
