Erling Haaland was a major doubt for Manchester City's Champions League victory over AEK Athens after limping off against Ipswich Town…

Erling Haaland is fit and cleared to start Manchester City's upcoming Premier League match against Aston Villa. The forward was rested on the bench during City's 5-1 European victory against AEK on Tuesday after limping off late in Saturday's win over Ipswich Town. Following the midweek fixture, manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the striker will be available for the weekend clash at Villa Park.
Haaland's rest came as seventeen-year-old Floyd Samba earned a start, while Phil Foden netted a hat-trick alongside goals from Elliot Anderson and Rayan Cherki. Maresca noted that several rested players remained on the bench ready to participate, but City comfortably secured the result without needing to risk their key forward ahead of Saturday's lunchtime kickoff.
