Manzambi looked set for a switch to Tyneside over the summer but the deal was hijacked as Villa swooped in to sign the Switzerland international
Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle addressed the summer transfer snub by Switzerland international Manzambi, who chose Aston Villa over Newcastle. Ahead of Saturday's match against Unai Emery's side, Jaissle praised Manzambi as a strong player but avoided discussing past transfer targets, stating his focus remains entirely on his current squad.
Newcastle enters the fixture seeking a bounce-back victory following a 4-1 loss to Coventry. Midfielder Joelinton is positioned to make his first start this season, while Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey are expected to resume light training next week.
