Aston Villa will be aiming to continue their perfect start to life in the Champions League this season as they travel to Spain for a showdown with reigning La Liga champions Barcelona…

Up to nine players could miss the Champions League meeting between Barcelona and Aston Villa due to injuries. Hansi Flick's Barcelona side faces significant defensive problems, with Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Xavi Espart all facing fitness concerns or absences. In addition, attacker Dani Olmo remains sidelined with an adductor injury, while Roony Bardghji is expected to miss the rest of the campaign.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery also has several absentees to navigate ahead of the trip to Spain. Midfielder Amadou Onana remains out with a knee injury, while defender Matteo Ruggeri is sidelined until at least December. Right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also highly likely to miss out after being absent for Villa's last four games.
