Romano reveals Man Utd top target to replace Carrick in ‘crucial’ sack update – ‘a manager they love’

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is Manchester United's top target if they choose to replace Michael Carrick. Carrick remains in charge for United's upcoming match against Chelsea despite suffering heavy defeats against Como and AFC Bournemouth. United have won just two of their opening 12 matches across all competitions this season, placing immense pressure on the manager's position.

According to Romano, United's board has initiated contacts with alternative candidates while assessing results. Securing Emery is viewed as extremely difficult because he remains deeply committed to Aston Villa, where he holds complete control over club strategy. Available alternatives reportedly under consideration include Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte, and Julian Nagelsmann.
