Unai Emery's Aston Villa are plotting a raid on South American giants River Plate for the signature of Santiago Beltran.

Aston Villa are reportedly preparing a $10 million to $15 million bid to sign 22-year-old goalkeeper Santiago Beltran from River Plate ahead of the winter transfer window. According to El Intransigente, the Premier League side has identified the Argentine prospect as a potential investment to add cover and competition alongside first-choice goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
River Plate have yet to indicate whether they are open to a permanent sale and are currently negotiating a contract extension with Beltran. Led by Stefano Di Carlo, the club's board is seeking to raise his release clause to $100 million to protect his long-term future and complicate any potential pursuit by manager Unai Emery's side.
