Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has stated that a decade-old controversy is behind him as he looks to seize an international opportunity with Germany. The 28-year-old was named in Jurgen Klopp's extended squad list for the upcoming international break, marking his potential return to the national team setup after a lengthy absence.
Janelt was previously dismissed from Germany's Under-19 squad alongside teammate Idrissa Toure ten years ago by coach Frank Kramer after using a shisha pipe in their hotel. Janelt told Sky Germany that he has matured, learned his lesson, and views this call-up as a crucial chance to feature in a major tournament.
