Former Chelsea player Alexandre Pato announced earlier this week that Sports Alpha Capital, in which he is an investor and board member, have taken a 70 per cent stake in Northampton Town.

Former Chelsea forward Alexandre Pato has announced that a consortium including himself, Sports Alpha Capital (SAC), has acquired a 70 percent majority stake in League Two club Northampton Town. The acquisition received approval from the EFL and the Independent Football Regulator, with Pato set to join the club's board as a director.
Existing owners David Bower, Nigel Le Quesne, and Kelvin Thomas will collectively keep a 30 percent shareholding, with Thomas stepping down as chairman after over a decade. The deal leaves Northampton Town debt-free following reported pre-tax losses of nearly £3 million in April 2026.
