Xabi Alonso has confirmed Joao Pedro will miss several weeks with a thigh injury after the Chelsea forward was ruled out of the defeat to Spurs.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that forward Joao Pedro will be sidelined for several weeks due to a thigh injury. The 25-year-old sustained the issue in training before missing Chelsea's 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, and he is now ruled out for upcoming fixtures, starting with the Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.
Pedro has been crucial for Chelsea this season, leading the team with five goals and three assists in seven appearances. Alonso noted that while the Brazilian will be missed, summer signing Emmanuel Emegha has recovered from a hamstring problem and will return to the squad ahead of the Liverpool tie and Saturday's league match against Manchester United.
