Xabi Alonso has revealed what Thibaut Courtois told him about Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders as the young Belgian prepares for a bigger role.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso revealed that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois acknowledged clear resemblances between himself and young Belgian shot-stopper Mike Penders. Speaking to Football London, Alonso noted that Courtois commented on their shared nationality and imposing physical stature when the two discussed Penders at the World Cup.
Penders, who stands at 6ft 7in and followed Courtois' path from Genk to Chelsea, is expected to start against Tottenham on Saturday. The 21-year-old previously made his Premier League debut off the bench in a 2-0 win over Everton following an injury to Emiliano Martinez.
