Coventry transport chiefs say the project has only been put back a few months and a lot of additional work is underway on the rail infrastructure…

Transport officials have addressed delays regarding the planned new bay platform at Coventry Train Station and the linked platform extension at Coventry Arena. A report to the West Midlands Combined Authority revealed the bay platform project has been pushed back to March 2032. Council transport head John Seddon stated the delay aligns with financial years and promised that teams remain focused on delivering the project alongside general stadium travel improvements.
Local councillors expressed concern that stadium transport remains insufficient, especially with Coventry City competing in the Premier League. The bay platform was originally budgeted at £10 million for 2025 completion, but costs have risen to £39.4 million. In response, officials highlighted recent bus service enhancements to the CBS Arena and ongoing coordination with rail and arena representatives.
