A former Premier League star who turned out for Coventry City and Sunderland was once forced to clean toilets so he could take care of his family…

Former Premier League and Scotland striker Kevin Kyle took a £400-a-week job cleaning toilets and stacking inventory on a ship to provide for his family after his football career declined. Kyle, who played for Sunderland and Coventry City, previously earned around £10,000 per week during the height of his playing days before working aboard the Regina Baltic in the Shetland Islands.
Kyle struggled with a severe gambling addiction during his career, reportedly losing £7,000 weekly at his peak. After retiring following a final appearance for Newton Stewart, he worked varied jobs, including taxi driving, before transitioning into podcasting with Open Goal and serving as a mental health advocate.
