Erik ten Hag has launched a scathing attack on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Manchester United hierarchy in his first interview since being sacked as manager two years ago…

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has accused Sir Jim Ratcliffe and club executives of breaking promises following his 2024 dismissal. In an interview with The Athletic, Ten Hag stated that club leadership broke assurances regarding backing, loyalty, and alignment. He expressed particular frustration over the sale of Scott McTominay to Napoli for £25 million, which he described as leaving him embarrassed after leaders had previously agreed not to sell the midfielder.
Ten Hag also revealed that he had targeted high-profile signings such as Frenkie de Jong, Declan Rice, and Harry Kane during his tenure. He clarified that he was not involved in financial negotiations, noting that former executives Richard Arnold and John Murtough took part in meetings regarding De Jong that ultimately failed to materialize.
