Everton moved up to fifth in the Premier League as Thierno Barry's goal was the difference against 10-man Ipswich Town on Saturday - but the Blues were not helped by VAR

Everton defeated 10-man Ipswich Town 1-0 on Saturday to climb to fifth place in the Premier League, courtesy of a first-half goal from Thierno Barry. Barry was later denied a second goal following a VAR review, with referee Stuart Attwell disallowing the header after Brennan Johnson was judged offside in front of goalkeeper Christian Walton.
Everton captain James Tarkowski argued that referees should be allowed to apply common sense regarding whether an offside player is interfering with a goalkeeper's ability to save a shot. Tarkowski also praised Barry, who now has five goals this season, along with Everton's broader defensive record of keeping five clean sheets across all competitions.
