Everton have been backed into a corner after the Harrison Armstrong fiasco.

Patric Ridge argues that Everton faces a serious contract dilemma with 19-year-old midfielder Harrison Armstrong following a collapsed transfer to Nottingham Forest. The Friedkin Group initially agreed to sell Armstrong in August before backing down due to fan backlash, which Ridge believes damaged the club's negotiating position with the player's representatives at CAA Base.
To secure Armstrong's long-term future, Ridge contends that Everton may now need to offer starter-level wages despite the midfielder not yet being an automatic first choice under David Moyes. Club executives Angus Kinnear and Nick Hammond must now balance delicate contract negotiations after the late-window saga revealed the ownership's prior willingness to sell.
