Former Everton winger Andros Townsend has opened up on the terrifying accident that saw him run over by a pitch roller

Former Everton winger Andros Townsend escaped serious injury after being run over by a pitch roller during warmups for Thai club PT Prachuap. The groundskeeping vehicle struck the 35-year-old and rolled over his left leg while he was warming up before a match against Pattani. Remarkably, Townsend avoided major fractures or ligament tears, suffering only minor bumps and bruises.
Following the frightening incident, Townsend managed to feature as a stoppage-time substitute in PT Prachuap's 3-0 victory over Pattani. Speaking publicly on Piers Morgan's Football Uncensored, Townsend expressed disbelief at the incident, explaining that falling flat on the ground at the right moment prevented his leg from snapping under the vehicle's weight.
