From Dixie Dean to Lukaku: Five classic Everton v Chelsea matches

Ahead of Everton's fixture against Chelsea at the Hill Dickinson, Read Everton reviewed five classic historic encounters between the sides spanning 85 years. The retrospective highlights historic Everton victories, including a 7-2 win in November 1931 featuring five goals from Dixie Dean, a 5-2 win in March 1970, and a 6-0 triumph in April 1978 during Bob Latchford's 30-goal league campaign.

The list also recalls Chelsea's 4-3 victory at Goodison Park in December 1984 during Everton's title-winning season. It concludes with an FA Cup quarter-final in March 2016, where Romelu Lukaku scored twice in a 2-0 Everton victory, sending Roberto Martinez's side to Wembley after both Diego Costa and Gareth Barry received red cards.
