The Story in 60 Seconds

AC Milan and Internazionale have unveiled designs for a new 71,500-capacity home to replace the historic San Siro, taking design cues from Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium. The venue will be called the Generali Stadium after securing a €650million naming-rights agreement through 2052. Scheduled to open in 2031 adjacent to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, the facility aims to overhaul the economic models of the two Serie A sides.

The inspiration followed a fact-finding mission by Milan officials to Everton in February to inspect operational practices and architect Dan Meis's steep-stand designs. Everton's South Stand features a 34.99-degree incline, and the proposed Milan venue plans an even steeper 37-degree gradient to bring supporters closer to the pitch.
