Everton manager David Moyes has explained his tactical deployment of Merlin Rohl across two different positions during a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea. The 24-year-old German started on the right wing over Brennan Johnson and Tyrique George to counter expected Chelsea left-back Pep Chavarria, before shifting to right-back in the second half.
Moyes praised Rohl's performance after moving to right-back, noting that his versatility provided Everton with improved crossing later in the match. Despite Everton losing their unbeaten league record to two second-half goals from Pedro Neto, Rohl continues to establish himself as a key multi-positional option for the team.
