Former Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and England striker Teddy Sheringham on the difficult job of being Everton centre-forward…

Teddy Sheringham stated he understands why Folarin Balogun decided against joining Everton on deadline day, explaining that leading the line alone for the club is an extremely demanding role. Balogun had agreed to a restructured permanent transfer from Monaco, but chose to return to the Ligue 1 club an hour after signing a deal sheet following a flagged medical issue.
Everton had previously sold Beto to Fiorentina, leaving manager David Moyes with Thierno Barry as his only senior striker. Sheringham noted that modern Everton centre-forwards face an isolated workload requiring intense work-rate alongside goalscoring expectations.
