Wayne and Coleen Rooney have opened up on the devastating moment that their son, Cass, was released by Everton

Wayne and Coleen Rooney have spoken about the difficult moment their eight-year-old son, Cass, was released by Everton's academy. Speaking on Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy's podcast, The Therapy Crouch, Coleen described breaking the news to Cass, who was devastated and burst into tears upon learning he would not be progressing to the Under-9s before quickly bouncing back.
Wayne Rooney reflected on the situation by highlighting how young Cass is, noting that he did not join Everton until age nine himself. He emphasized that missing out on top academies early on is normal and does not prevent young players from having successful football careers elsewhere, while confirming their other sons Kai and Klay remain at Manchester United.
