Xabi Alonso discussed the potential return of Emiliano Martinez, Cole Palmer's omission from the England squad, and the 'little problems' troubling Moises Caicedo, as well as much more, ahead of Chelsea's clash against Sunderland.
Chelsea manager Alonso addressed Cole Palmer's England omission, squad injuries, and the upcoming match against Sunderland during a Friday press conference at Cobham Training Ground. Alonso stated he had not discussed the national team snub with Palmer, choosing instead to focus on Chelsea's preparations.
Alonso confirmed that goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has returned to training wearing a protective mask following surgery for a fractured jaw. Meanwhile, midfielder Moises Caicedo is not expected to feature this weekend due to injury issues, with further updates planned after the international break.
