Ipswich Town midfielder Marcelino Núñez has reportedly left the Chile national team camp following alleged internal conflict during the international break. While the Chilean Football Federation stated Núñez was officially released for personal reasons, Chilean media outlets reported that training ground friction prompted his departure after Chile suffered a 4-2 defeat to the USA.
According to Cooperative Deportiva, Núñez was involved in a confrontation with teammate Lucas Cepeda that nearly turned physical. Meanwhile, ADN Deportes reported that Núñez requested to return to England due to frustration with interim coach Nicolás Córdova after being left on the bench for the USA match.
