The Premier League’s Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel have revealed their verdict on whether Issa Diop should have had a red card in Ipswich Town’s 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League's Key Match Incidents panel unanimously agreed that Ipswich Town defender Issa Diop should not have been sent off during a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. Referee Thomas Bramall reviewed the incident at the pitchside monitor after Diop brought down Forest's James McAtee, choosing to issue a yellow card rather than a red card for denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
All five panel members supported the on-field decision, noting McAtee took a heavy touch and a covering defender was level. The panel also unanimously affirmed that Neco Williams' opening goal should have stood following a review of contact between Morgan Gibbs-White and Dara O'Shea.
