Shearer also evaluated former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's new role leading the Germany national team. While Wirtz scored in Klopp's 2-0 debut victory over Serbia, Shearer questioned whether Germany currently possesses sufficient talent to return to the top tier of international football.
