John Aldridge urges Liverpool to re-sign one player and weighs up their options both at centre-back and in attack in the first half of his weekly column

Writing in his Liverpool Echo column, John Aldridge expects Virgil van Dijk to leave Liverpool at the end of the season when his contract expires. Aldridge argues that triggering the reported £56m buyback option for Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jarell Quansah is a no-brainer to reinforce the defense.
Aldridge also evaluates potential future captains, mentioning Ronald Araujo alongside Dominik Szoboszlai. Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Manchester City, Aldridge highlights concerns over forward injuries involving Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo, and Hugo Ekitike.
