Journalist confirms end of an era, Club expected to sign legendary star from Liverpool

Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti reports that Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is expected to leave the club and eventually sign for AC Milan. Pellegatti stated that the Dutch defender had the opportunity to move during the summer window, but the Italian side now anticipates his arrival at a later date, potentially as a free agent.

According to Pellegatti, AC Milan chairman Gerry Cardinale considered acquiring Van Dijk via a transfer fee or waiting to secure him on a free transfer when his Liverpool contract expires. Liverpool faces a renewal dilemma as their experienced center-back approaches age 36 next year.
