Man Utd tipped to appoint ex-Liverpool boss with Nagelsmann now ‘unlikely’

Former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has been tipped as a potential successor to Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, while Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly an unlikely candidate. Following a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth that extended United's winless streak to eight matches, the club decided to keep Carrick in charge for their upcoming fixture against Chelsea.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic reported that an appointment of Nagelsmann is viewed as unlikely despite recruitment director Christopher Vivell liking him. Meanwhile, Dutch journalist Martijn Krabbendam suggested on ESPN NL that United should target Slot if Carrick is dismissed, while fellow journalist Sjoerd Mossou strongly criticized the club's governance under Jim Ratcliffe.
