Liverpool are starting to action their winter transfer business, but things don't always go to plan.
Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward has reportedly lined up contingency targets if the club fails to sign top midfield target Alex Scott this winter. Scott is valued by Bournemouth at around £100 million and is also drawing strong interest from Chelsea. According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are currently preparing alternative moves to ensure manager Andoni Iraola receives a necessary midfield reinforcement.
AS Roma's Manu Kone and AS Monaco's Lamine Camara have been identified as the primary alternatives to Scott. Liverpool's recruitment team is carrying out due diligence on both players ahead of the January transfer window after spending more than £650 million over the previous three windows.
