Andy Burnham has said he will publish all details of his dealings with Manchester City in his previous mayoral role after his intervention in support of the football club's owners raised eyebrows.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has pledged to release all details concerning his interactions with Manchester City during his tenure as Greater Manchester mayor. Burnham's decision follows public and political backlash after he previously expressed concern over the possibility of the club's Abu Dhabi owners departing following their guilty verdict for breaching Premier League financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.
Speaking on The Rest is Politics podcast, Burnham stated he would disclose records from his time as mayor, noting his only significant meeting occurred in 2021. He argued that municipal investment matters should remain separate from the club's independent sporting disciplinary process, while opposition politicians have called for full transparency regarding Downing Street's contacts with Manchester City.
