O’Reilly was sent back to Man City for ‘further assessment’ ahead of the Croatia rout and Thomas Tuchel has now called up another left-back ahead of Tuesday’s game against Czech Republic
England manager Thomas Tuchel has called up Manchester City's Rico Lewis as a late replacement for his injured club teammate Nico O'Reilly. Lewis has been promoted from the under-21 squad ahead of England's upcoming Nations League match against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Tuesday.
O'Reilly sustained a training injury and returned to Manchester City for assessment after featuring in a 3-2 defeat against Spain. Although the Football Association initially announced no replacement would be summoned, they changed stance to provide defensive cover alongside Newcastle's Lewis Hall.
