The Story in 60 Seconds

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca confirmed Gianluigi Donnarumma remains his first-choice goalkeeper despite Geronimo Rulli's heroics in a Carabao Cup penalty shootout win over Brighton. Rulli saved two penalties following a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium, having earlier denied Georginio Rutter to keep City in the match. Despite the 34-year-old's performance, Maresca stated Donnarumma will return to the starting lineup for the upcoming Premier League fixture.

Rulli rejoined City from Marseille for £1.7m during the summer to serve as backup after James Trafford joined Leeds for £45m. After Mateo Kovacic and Vitor Reis scored to level Brighton goals from Malick Yalcouye and Rutter, City advanced to face Bradford in the quarter-finals.
