Bayern Munich 2-2 Manchester City: A vastly-improved second half performance earned the visitors a draw in Germany
Manchester City fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in their Women's Champions League opener in Germany. After falling behind 2-0 within the first half-hour, City began their comeback just before halftime when Kerstin Casparij assisted Beth Mead for a tap-in. The result made Manchester City the first English side to avoid defeat against the German club in European competition.
City completed the comeback late in the second half despite Khadija Shaw missing an equalizing penalty following an Ena Mahmutovic foul on Aoba Fujino. Carlotta Wamser scored her first goal for the club in the 86th minute to level the match, securing a point after Bayern's Klara Buhl and Pernille Harder had earlier missed opportunities to extend the lead.
