Manchester City could be required to pay the Premier League nearly £50m in legal costs after an independent commission found the club guilty of serious financial breaches. The panel determined City artificially inflated revenues by £900m across a nine-year period through sham contracts. The Premier League's total legal expenses are projected to exceed £70m.
City deny all wrongdoing and plan to appeal the ruling, which club chief executive Ferran Soriano labeled a conspiracy theory. Total legal expenses between both sides are predicted to surpass £100m, with the commission set to determine a final, proportionate compensation figure once proceedings conclude.
