In a Premier League season increasingly shaped by injuries, rotation and congested schedules, what happens when the first choices are unavailable can be incredibly important.

A Sky Sports analysis evaluating player values, rotation, and substitute impact ranked Arsenal top of the Premier League in both the Overall Squad Depth Index and Competitive Depth Index. Mikel Arteta's side features an average substitute bench value of £367m, while their modelled second XI retains roughly 92 percent of their starting XI's market value. Arsenal also led the league in raw substitute goals and assists since the start of last season.
Across the division, Tottenham distributed a significant share of minutes beyond their core XI, whereas Manchester United under Michael Carrick relied heavily on their core lineup. Meanwhile, Manchester City saw a £428.2m drop-off in value between their first and second XIs, primarily due to Erling Haaland's valuation. Specific positional weaknesses were also highlighted across clubs, including Arsenal at left wing and Liverpool on the right flank.
