Bruno Fernandes led Portugal to a 4-2 win over Denmark with two assists after taking the armband in Ronaldo’s absence for the national side.
Bruno Fernandes marked his debut as Portugal captain by registering two assists in a 4-2 victory over Denmark. The Manchester United midfielder stepped into the leadership role in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who had reportedly left the national team camp following a rift with head coach Jorge Jesus.
Fernandes created five chances during the match, including setting up a 25th-minute goal for Gonçalo Ramos. Following the win, Fernandes revealed he had privately reaffirmed to Ronaldo that he remains the greatest symbol of Portuguese football, while manager Jorge Jesus praised Fernandes for raising his level after a half-time challenge.
