Former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is set to train with Bologna as the Serie A club consider offering the free agent a contract.

Former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is set to train with Bologna on a trial basis as the Serie A club considers signing him to a permanent contract. The 36-year-old free agent has been without a club since his contract with Inter Milan expired on June 30. Bologna manager Raffaele Palladino and the club's staff will evaluate Darmian's physical condition before making a final decision on registering him.
Bologna's pursuit of Darmian follows a serious hamstring injury to right-back Emil Holm during Sweden's Nations League match against Romania. Holm requires surgery and is expected to be sidelined for approximately four months. Bologna currently sits 18th in Serie A with two points from five matches, having recently replaced former manager Domenico Tedesco with Palladino.
