Andreas Pereira has revealed he actively avoided speaking to manager Erik ten Hag in 2022 to secure his departure from Manchester United. The midfielder, who had spent 11 years at Old Trafford, feared that Ten Hag would convince him to stay and fight for his place. Pereira instead completed a permanent transfer to Fulham, where he has since established himself under manager Marco Silva.

The Brazil international stated that leaving Manchester United was the best decision of his life, allowing him to regain his confidence and return to the national team. The comments come ahead of a Premier League meeting between Fulham and Manchester United at Craven Cottage, following United's recent Carabao Cup exit against Brighton.
