Kai Rooney's first appearance for Manchester United's Under 21s didn't go to plan, when the Reds went up against Nottingham Forest in Loughborough on Friday

Kai Rooney made his Manchester United Under-21s debut on Friday during a Premier League 2 fixture against Nottingham Forest at Loughborough University Stadium. The 16-year-old came on as a substitute in the 78th minute with the score tied at 2-2, but United ultimately lost 3-2 following a late winner from Forest's Shakur Samuels.
The defeat marked United's first Premier League 2 loss of the campaign after three consecutive wins. Rooney's U21 appearance arrived shortly after his Under-19 debut against Atletico Madrid, following his promotion through the academy ranks and signing a two-year scholarship agreement in July.
