Hall, 22, was of strong interest to United in the summer as they searched for a left back, but United opted to hold fire on any approach after Newcastle made it clear they didn't want to lose him.

Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall revealed it was a "no-brainer" to turn down interest from Manchester United and sign a new contract with Newcastle. Manchester United and manager Michael Carrick targeted the 22-year-old left-back during the summer transfer window, but Newcastle firmly resisted any potential permanent transfer.
Hall credited new Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle's vision and ambitions for his decision to commit his long-term future to the club. Hall recently scored in a 2-1 win over Hull City and earned an England recall, while Manchester United continue assessing alternative left-back targets.
