Michael Carrick's position as Manchester United head coach is under serious threat after a dismal start to the season, and the club could turn to a pool of free-agent managers to replace him…

Manchester Evening News reports Manchester United could consider seven out-of-work managers to replace head coach Michael Carrick. The 45-year-old manager faces mounting pressure following a 4-1 Champions League loss to Como and a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth. The result left United near the bottom of the Premier League table after spending £153 million on midfield reinforcements during the summer window.
The potential candidates identified without a club include Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte, Julian Nagelsmann, Kieran McKenna, Gareth Southgate, Roberto Martinez, and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Darren Fletcher could also be deployed as an interim coach if United decide to dismiss Carrick before hiring a permanent successor.
