Cristiano Ronaldo may not return to the Portugal national team while Jorge Jesus is coach, following a dispute over playing time and public comments.

Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly refuse to return to the Portugal national team as long as head coach Jorge Jesus remains in charge. The 41-year-old forward recently walked out of the national camp following a dispute over playing time after being benched against Norway. According to CNN Portugal journalist Rui Santos, Ronaldo was angered by Jesus's subsequent public statements and no longer trusts the manager.
While Jesus indicated that the door remains open for Ronaldo to decide his own international future, Santos claims Ronaldo views the coach's comments as contradictory. A managerial change appears unlikely, however, as Portugal has won all four opening matches under Jesus to establish themselves as Nations League favorites.
