Man United are facing a crisis at left-back this season and one young player came from nowhere to feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday

Manchester United left-back Diego Leon received a rare opportunity to impress manager Michael Carrick during a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday. With several first-team and academy players away on international duty, the 19-year-old Paraguayan featured at left-back in a makeshift United side that defeated Lausanne-Sport 2-1.
Leon originally joined Manchester United from Club Cerro Porteno in summer 2025 for £3.3 million, with potential add-ons reaching £7 million. Tyrone Marshall writes that Leon remains raw and must first earn regular minutes with the Under-21s, where competitor Harry Amass has regularly started ahead of him this season.
