Manchester United join Omar Marong chase, contact established

Manchester United are reportedly considering an approach to sign 16-year-old Gambian midfielder Omar Marong. The TMT Academy player drew attention after impressing scouts at the recent WAFU Tournament held in Dakar, Senegal. Manchester United are among several European clubs now monitoring the teenager with an eye toward bringing him to England.

Because transfer rules prohibit players from moving to English clubs prior to turning 18, Manchester United would need to secure a pre-agreement for a permanent transfer ahead of European rivals. The club envisions Marong developing within their academy system before eventually competing for a spot in the first team.
