Manchester United are exploring the potential permanent signing of Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta ahead of the January transfer window. The 29-year-old French forward is approaching the end of his contract, prompting Palace to consider selling him rather than losing him on a free transfer next summer. United manager Michael Carrick is reportedly seeking forward depth following an injury to Benjamin Sesko.
Palace have not yet decided whether to sanction a mid-season departure and may still demand a significant fee. The Hard Tackle suggests that while Mateta offers immediate Premier League experience, United should treat him as an option rather than a top priority unless Palace lower their valuation.
