Newcastle United and Coventry City face significant squad selection issues ahead of their Premier League clash on Monday, with up to 14 players potentially sidelined. Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle has navigated an injury crisis following the international break, though Nico Gonzalez and Joelinton are expected to return. Goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen faces surgery for a hamstring issue, while Lewis Miley, Anthony Elanga, William Osula, Dan Burn, Jacob Ramsey, Amar Dedic, and Tino Livramento carry fitness doubts.
Coventry City also face absences, as striker Taiwo Awoniyi is suspended, Haji Wright remains sidelined until late October, and Aurele Amenda is out until Christmas. Milan van Ewijk and Josh Eccles are expected back in training.
