Joelinton has opened up on Newcastle's difficult week, leadership and how they hope to respond against Crystal Palace…

Newcastle United vice-captain Joelinton has revealed he aims to replicate former captain Bruno Guimaraes' fighting spirit and constant presence in his new leadership role. Following the summer departures of Guimaraes to Arsenal and Kieran Trippier to Wolves, Dan Burn was appointed club captain, with Joelinton named vice-captain. The 30-year-old Brazilian recently made his first start of the season after recovering from an injury that sidelined him for the opening two months.
Joelinton highlighted the importance of learning from past leaders while remaining authentic to himself as he helps guide younger teammates. His return coincides with a challenging spell for Newcastle and manager Matthias Jaissle following consecutive defeats against Coventry City and Aston Villa. With club captain Burn also nearing full fitness, Joelinton stressed the necessity of a positive collective mentality ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.
