Kyran Thompson continued his impressive start to life at Newcastle United with a brace for the Under-21s on Tuesday night, just 24 hours after his trip to Coventry.

Seventeen-year-old winger Kyran Thompson scored twice to lead Newcastle United Under-21s to a 2-1 victory against Hartlepool United in the National League Cup on Tuesday night. Thompson opened the scoring in the ninth minute and added his second via a deflected effort in the 35th minute to secure the win at Victoria Park.
The performance followed Thompson traveling with Matthias Jaissle's senior squad for Monday's match at Coventry, although he did not make the bench. Meanwhile, Newcastle announced that the upcoming Under-21s derby against Sunderland on October 26 has been moved to St James' Park.
