Newcastle under-21s ran out 3-2 winners over Sunderland in a feisty derby game at St James' Park…

Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle watched from the stands as the under-21 side secured an entertaining 3-2 victory over rivals Sunderland at St James' Park. Former Eddie Howe bench option Park Seung-soo came on as a substitute and scored a stunning equalizer to remind Jaissle of his abilities, before Vakhtang Salia headed an 85th-minute winner to secure their first Premier League 2 win of the season.
Sunderland took the lead twice through Trey Ogunsuyi and Felix Scott, but Newcastle responded through Kyran Thompson, Park, and Salia. The high-stakes derby clash also featured key contributions from goalkeeper Roman Dowell and forward Afner Ca in front of 5,100 supporters.
